The Good Book

People say things to me,
Things that could never be,
However, they do not see,
How unfortunate for me,
As the good book once said,
If I am not for myself – it plead,
Then who will be for me,
When I am for myself – you see,
Then what am I – and if not now?
– When? It is almost Tao,
We are our own greatest foes,
All for the cons none for the pros,
Logic has burnt ashes scattered,
Family and future all shattered,
Pride and stupidity bad combination,
For a while will give you elation,
Then slow death suffocation,
